Sirius
2018 / Composite / 190x140x30 cm
Since childhood, I have felt an invisible connection between the depths of the ocean and the vastness of space. Both are weightless, silent, and infinitely dark. To me, they have always been the same realm. I imagined that if we could descend deep enough beneath the sea, we might emerge into the cosmos. This feeling became the foundation of my sculpture. Inspired by the relationship between the stars in the sky and starfish beneath the ocean, I set out to create a form that could express this transformation—a metamorphosis from the depths of the sea into the infinite universe. As the sculpture evolved, an unexpected form revealed itself. Its upper structure began to resemble a wolf… a dog. No matter how much I resisted, the shape kept returning. Eventually, I surrendered to the creative flow. Months after completing the piece, I discovered that Sirius—one of humanity’s most sacred and symbolic stars—has long been represented in esoteric traditions as the Wolf Star, the Dog Star. Without realizing it, I had shaped Sirius. Perhaps nothing is coincidence. Perhaps every creation remembers something long before we understand it.
